What is Preliminary Hazard Analysis (PHA) ?
PHA is a comparative method. Comparative techniques are based on hazard identification (HAZID) by comparing with standards. The various methods are checklist, safety audit, hazard indices and preliminary hazard analysis.
Purpose | For early identification of hazards. |
Applicability | In preliminary design phase to provide guidance for final design. |
Data required | Plant design criteria, hazardous materials involved and major plant equipment. |
Results | List of hazards (as per available design details) with recommendation to designers to support hazard reduction |
